The Talbot Group is a privately owned business employing over 300 staff with 200 clients availing of our services. The Group was established in the early 1990’s with the opening of two nursing homes, Talbot Lodge in Malahide, Co Dublin and St Clare’s in Stamullen, Co Meath. Blackrock Abbey in Dundalk, Co Louth, a third nursing home, was opened in 2003.
In the early 2000’s, as well as expanding our nursing home business, we also expanded our residential care expertise into residential services for adults with significant learning disabilities. A specialist facility for adults with Autism, Intellectual Disabilities, Down Syndrome and other similar disabilities was developed in Stamullen. This facility is a modern-build specifically catering to the needs of these clients groups. The service for these clients includes a seven day programme of educational, vocational and recreational activity.
A service for Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) was subsequently developed with the setting up of an eight bedded neurobehavioural rehabilitation unit on the Stamullen complex.
We are currently in the process of expanding our ABI service and will be building a purpose-built 16 bed residential and community rehabilitation centre for adults with an ABI. This is expected to be operational by early 2012.
The majority of clients availing of our services are receiving funding from their local HSE. Alternatively, clients pay privately for our services.
