Admission Process – Nursing Homes

We welcome each of our new residents and help them to settle in and feel at home. Each new resident is assessed by our Clinical Team to determine their needs. Following this assessment, a comprehensive care plan specific to the resident is developed in consultation with the resident and family to meet the individual needs of the resident.

Q: Can I view the Nursing Home before I make up my mind?


Making a decision that you or your family member requires long term care can be a difficult decision. Choosing a nursing home can also be difficult. To help you with this we encourage families to visit our Nursing Homes in advance, to view the facilities and services available.

Q: How is my placement funded?


Financial support towards the cost of long-term nursing home care under the Nursing Home Support Scheme, “A Fair Deal” is administered by the HSE. It is the only financial support scheme available for new admissions. Information on the scheme is available on the HSE website at

Q: Who will be taking care of me?


We have a highly skilled and caring team led by a Clinical Services Manager. Our care team comprises of – Nurses, Doctors, Psychologist, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Speech and Language Therapist, Consultant Nutritionist/Dietitian, Activity Instructors and Health Care Assistants.

Q: What activities take place in the Nursing Home? TALBOT LODGE


We have a very broad programme and variety of activities and social events. The activities programme available which is free of charge includes the following – Arts & Crafts, Baking, Bingo, Crossword Club, Current Affairs, Story Telling, Musical Entertainment, Singing, Fit for Life, Flower Arranging, Group & Individual Relaxation, Hand Massage, Horticulture, Knitting, Da Trips Computer Classes, Prayer & Rosary Group, Quiz, Reminiscence Therapy, Sonas and Pet Therapy.
