I have been employed by the Talbot group since 2011 as a Direct Support Worker, and was promoted to the role of team leader. Although it can be challenging, it is equally rewarding, and I have gained valuable learning experiences and knowledge that I can use throughout my future career. Providing Residents in the Talbot Group with the support and empowerment to live a fulfilling meaningful life is very important to me and it is a privilege to be able to do so in such a supportive expanding company.
I had a FETAC level 5 qualification and I started work with the Talbot Group as a Direct Support worker over 11 years ago . In 2016, I was promoted to Team Leader, and gained a lot of experience under the mentorship of a senior manager. I really enjoyed the Team leader Role and after two years I was promoted to the role of Supervisor of two community houses which was an enjoyable challenge where I gained invaluable experience working with a bigger team of staff and more residents.
I am presently pursuing a degree in Social Care Degree with the support of the company and have finished my second year.
With support from my Managers I completed a Level 6 QQI Managing People in March 2018. This qualification in addition to the experience I have gained helped facilitate my most recent promotion to Person in Charge in a new community house. I am looking forward to continuing my career with the Talbot Group.
